New Poster for the Film Noir Remake 'Beyond a Reasonable Doubt'

15 November 2008 10:20 AM, PST | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

You might look at this poster for Beyond a Reasonable Doubt and think it's got a kind of vintage vibe, what with the Saul Bass-inspired knife (clearly an homage to Anatomy of a Murder, I would imagine).

Well, maybe that's because this is a remake of a 1956 film noir directed by the great Fritz Lang. And as the poster suggests, a man frames himself for a murder, but does so to show the flaws in the criminal justice system. The new version is directed by Peter Hyams and stars - as you can see - Michael Douglas, Jesse Metcalfe, and Amber Tamblyn.

Thanks to Imp Awards

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt will be in theaters next year.

Terrifyingly Gnarly #5- Spiral. Halloween. Go!

10 November 2008 11:50 AM, PST | From Fangoria.com | See recent Fangoria news

Remember that stack of movies on my desk? I’m trying. No, I really am. It’s taking a bit, though. Good news, however, at least for me: One of those which I’ve been aching to see has finally been consumed by my eyes.

I’ll start off by saying I loved Hatchet. I was super-afraid that it had been overhyped and when it finally got a limited release, I rushed over to see it and had a kick-ass time. If you haven’t gotten around to it yet and are looking for a slasher to make you smile, Hatchet is golden. Then I started getting acquainted with Adam Green’s Halloween shorts. This year’s (The Tivo) wasn’t as wonderful as The Tiffany Problem or other past entries, but they’re still consistently awesome.

I’m not sure what had kept me from seeing Spiral, as all

ABC Pull Alyssa Milano's Comedy, Reduce Two Midseason Shows

6 November 2008 1:08 AM, PST | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

A new show starring Alyssa Milano has been pulled by ABC and ABC Studios even before it hits the screen. "Single with Parents" that was due for midseason 2009 premiere faces an obstruction which according to Variety is a form of creative differences. The studio said that the creative direction cannot be agreed upon and thus they have to pull the plug.

"Single with Parents" is a comedy that puts Milano as the main character named Lou. She is a thirtysomething woman who was trying to juggle her life while dealing with her dysfunctional family. The show is written by Kristin Newman who previously enrolled in "That '70s Show" and "How I Met Your Mother". Other cast in the show includes Annie Potts ("Men in Trees"), Beau Bridges ("My Name Is Earl"), and Vanessa Hudgens' younger sister, Stella Hudgens ("According to Jim").

Tamblyn to Blackout This January

17 October 2008 12:39 AM, PDT | From DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news

I've never had the misfortune of being trapped in an elevator but I'm quite certain it sucks. I'm postive being trapped in an elevator for 20 hours would suck even more so. Being trapped in an elevator for 20 hours with two other people, one of whom turns out to be a serial killer, suffice to say that's not a scenario you want to find yourself in. That's the scenario Amber Tamblyn finds herself in in Blackout, coming to DVD this January.

"You're trapped in the dark elevator of a deserted building with two strangers on a hot August afternoon, with a dire need to be somewhere else. Things couldn't get any worse ... unless one of you is a psychopathic serial killer. Amber Tamblyn (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, TV's "Joan of Arcadia") and Aidan Gillen (The Low Down, TV's "The Wire") star in this riveting thriller about what happens when escalating hostility,

Ellen and Portia Party to Spread Awareness for Animals

29 September 2008 2:00 PM, PDT | From Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news

Last week, Ellen DeGeneres used her blog to speak out against CA Proposition 8, but last night she switched gears to host a party with Portia de Rossi in support of Prop 2. Tobey Maguire, Jared Leto and Amy Smart were just a few of the celebs that came out to support the Proposition regarding treatment of farm animals. Ellen's doing her part to stay politically active before the elections in November, but she's also been enjoying her life as a newlywed. Ellen and Portia seem blissfully in love as ever, and hopefully these ladies will still be smiling no matter what happens come election day. America Ferrera Claims 'The Hills' and 'Gossip Girl' Condition People to Be Mean

13 September 2008 12:55 AM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Gracing the cover of Seventeen magazine's October 2008 issue, America Ferrera has become talk of the town, not because of her pose but for the comment she made about hit TV series "The Hills" and "Gossip Girl," making both as examples of bad shows that can condition people to be mean. She, however, still shows positive attitude towards the cast, claiming Blake Lively as a wonderful friend of hers.

Being asked by the magazine on "Gossip Girl" being a bad influence, she openly outed her opinion, saying "Close, genuine female relationships are not what generally gets depicted in movies and TV shows. Like, if you're watching The Hills or 90210, all the backstabbing shapes the way we act - you go to school, and you think your job is to find a sworn enemy and be jealous of each other." She, nevertheless, went on adding "I mean, I love Blake [Lively]; she's a wonderful friend of mine,

America Ferrera: Gossip Girl Makes Us 'Mean'

10 September 2008 11:10 PM, PDT | From PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news

America Ferrera says TV depicts female friendships in a skewed light. "Like, if you're watching The Hills or 90210, all the backstabbing shapes the way we act," the Seventeen cover girl says in the magazine's October issue. "I mean, I love Blake [Lively]; she's a wonderful friend of mine, but shows like Gossip Girl kind of condition us to be mean." The Ugly Betty star, 24, says she has managed to keep her own friendships – especially with her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants costars – cat fight-free. "One of the most wonderful experiences I've had with girl relationships was working with them [Lively, Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn] on Sisterhood.

"The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" web reviews

8 August 2008 9:24 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Although I'm a guy and I'm 24, I have to admit I enjoyed Sanaa Hamri' "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" almost as much as I enjoyed its predecessor. And no, not only because of Blake Lively. Anyway, feel free to check out my review right here. Now let's quickly take a look at what other Web critics have to say about the film, which follows Lively, America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn as four friends who embark on their first year of college and the summer beyond.

• Katey Rich at CinemaBlend: "Blessed with four talented actresses returning for the sequel, as well as a fiercely loyal fanbase, the movie didn't have to do much to satisfy its audience. If it had only tried a little harder, though, it could have been something worth recommending."

• Collider's Brian Orndorf: "It's a candy-coated drama coasting on a once perceptible charm

Review: “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2”

8 August 2008 1:47 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Seen on: August 7, 2008

The players: Director: Sanaa Hamri, Writer: Elizabeth Chandler, Cast: America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively, Jesse Williams

Facts of interest: Chandler also collaborated on the script for the first film.

The plot: "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" follows four best friends as their embark on the first year of college and the summer beyond.

Our quick thoughts: In 2005’s “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” four best girlfriends spent a summer apart but decided to stay connected by sharing a pair of old jeans that fit each one of them perfectly. Based on the acclaimed novel by Ann Brashares, the big-screen adaptation took four interesting characters and had them face several issues that eventually strengthened their bond and taught them a few valuable lessons about life and love.

Lively's Clumsy On-set Experience

7 August 2008 6:30 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Clumsy Blake Lively caused all sorts of problems on the set of movie sequel The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants 2 - by crashing a moped and stepping on a sea urchin.

The actress was shooting the film in Santorini, Greece and admits her slip-ups and injuries became a running joke among the cast and crew.

She recalls, "I crashed a moped on the first day of shooting into (co-star) America (Ferrera) and into an ancient stone wall.

"I also jumped off a cliff and while I was crawling out (of the sea) - while I had a gimp knee - I stepped on a sea urchin and got, like, 42 sea urchin needles lodged in my foot."

Lively recalls castmate Amber Tamblyn had a strange way of helping her pal deal with the pain: "Because I was in so much pain and they didn't have any pain medication there, she was hitting me in the head while the doctor was taking them out.

"She was like, 'That's what they do to dogs.'"
