Spicy Food Caused Reno's 'Heart Attack'

Latest: French actor Jean Reno's 'heart attack' was actually a bout of heartburn and gastroenteritis, according to his publicist.
Reports suggested the Leon star had been rushed to the Fort-de-France hospital on Martinique on Wednesday night after suffering a "serious" cardiac arrest on the Caribbean island of St. Barts.
But his publicist, Christina Papadopoulos, the fuss was nothing more than the result of "too much spicy Caribbean food".
She says, "Reports that actor Jean Reno is in the hospital due to a heart attack are false. He is vacationing in the Caribbean and went to a local hospital as a precaution for some discomfort he was feeling due to heartburn and gastroenteritis.
"It was definitely not a heart attack. He is fine and healthy and enjoying the rest of his vacation travelling in the Caribbean.
"I think he was just enjoying vacation and probably ate a little too much spicy Caribbean food!"
Hospital director Bernard Cavignaux confirms the 60 year old underwent tests and was expected to be discharged on Thursday.
French singer Johnny Hallyday and his wife Laetitia are expected to pick the actor up from the hospital. The trio and Reno's wife Sofia are expected to continue with their vacation in nearby St. Barts.
The Pink Panther star was at Hallyday's retreat when he fell ill.
Applegate Carries On Filming

Actress Christina Applegate will continue shooting her U.S. TV series Samantha Who? as she undergoes reconstructive breast surgery following a double mastectomy.
The 36-year-old star revealed on Tuesday she had both breasts removed after being diagnosed with cancer last month.
Applegate - who was given the all-clear following the operation - is now scheduled to undergo reconstructive surgery over the next eight months.
A spokesperson for the star insists she will be "on a normal shooting schedule", adding that the procedure "is not affecting production".
The actress had already completed filming five episodes for the upcoming season of her hit comedy show before stopping for a summer break at the end of June.
An ABC spokesperson confirms: "They're on a scheduled hiatus and she'll be back next month. It's business as usual."
Stefani Checks Into Hospital To Give Birth

Gwen Stefani has checked into a Los Angeles, California hospital where she is scheduled to give birth to her second child with husband Gavin Rossdale.
The singer is reportedly scheduled to give birth via Caesarean section on Thursday after checking into the city's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center - the same facility where she gave birth to two-year-old son Kingston.
The happy couple announced they were preparing to welcome a brother or sister for Kingston in January - although they have decided not to learn the sex of the baby before it's born.
Rossdale recently told Britain's Ok! magazine, "We don't know if it's a boy or a girl. Plus we are going to put him in a black room. It'll be a goth baby so it doesn't matter if it is a boy or a girl."
Stefani and Bush rocker Rossdale wed in 2002.
Restored Godfather Movies Return To Big Screen

The first two Godfather movies have been restored and are returning to the big screen.
Cleaned-up 35mm versions of the mafia epics - directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro - will be screened at September's Gotham Film Forum in New York before hitting movie theatres across the U.S.
The work has been carried out by Robert A. Harris, under the direction of Coppola and original cinematographer Gordon Willis.
Harris - who also worked on a Lawrence of Arabia restoration - claims his job was made tougher because high demand for prints of the movies had left the original negative in poor condition.
He tells Daily Variety, "(It was) the worst I've ever seen in a picture from the modern era."
The first two Godfathers are among the most successful and critically acclaimed movies ever made.
Thurman On Stalker Case: 'I Wasn't Being Courageous'

Actress Uma Thurman has no regrets about pressing charges against her stalker in a high-profile court case - because she was determined to do whatever it took to protect her family.
Jack Jordan, 37, was ordered to keep his distance from the Hollywood star for five years after he was found guilty of fourth-degree stalking and one count of second degree aggravated harassment by a jury in May.
During the week-long dramatic trial at New York's Manhattan Supreme Court, Thurman and her parents testified, revealing how Jordan had bombarded them with notes and letters, and threatened to kill himself following his 2005 visit outside Thurman's New York home.
And though Thurman is now reluctant to "give any more energy to that (the trial)," she insists she has no misgivings about pursuing the marathon of court proceedings.
She adds: "If anyone is forced to call 911 and as a result, something becomes a police matter, you can't abandon the process: You need to cooperate and allow the police to do what they need to do. I wasn't being courageous. It was a situation I needed to see through in order to protect my family."
Swayze 'Feeling Good' About Cancer Battle

Cancer-battling actor Patrick Swayze has echoed the praise he recently received from the TV chiefs of his show The Beast, insisting he's feeling healthy and looking forward to recovery.
Swayze was praised by TV producers on Wednesday for his "workhorse" attitude on the Chicago, Illinois set - just months after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February.
And the actor insists he feels revived, despite his ongoing 12-hour work days.
He says, "I'm feeling good and doing everything that I need to do to stay healthy. I don't have to return to California until next month for my next round of treatments. Right now, I'm taking the medication as I am scheduled to take it.
"We (wife, Lisa Niemi and I) have been walking our dogs and enjoying some of the restaurants. Also, we stay in the hotel so I can rest for filming."
Swayze is set to continue filming the show until November of this year.
Paula Abdul Undergoes Neck Surgery

Paula Abdul has undergone surgery on her neck to relieve pain she has suffered for the past 20 years.
According to reports, the American Idol judge checked into Los Angeles' Olympia Medical Center in early August for a five-day stay.
The 46-year-old singer's spine was first damaged during a cheerleading accident when she was 17. She was then involved in a car accident and a minor plane crash that worsened the damage.
She once told reporters, "I have four titanium plates in my neck. I've had 14 surgeries over the years."
A source tells the National Enquirer of her recent surgery, "Paula wasn't about to begin another season of Idol living in constant pain. Auditions for the show begin in New York at the end of August, and she wanted to make sure she was feeling her best before hitting the road." (Ig/Ne)
Johansson: 'Hairy Myers Halted Filming'

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was forced to halt filming on Match Point while kissing co-star Scarlett Johansson - so that he could have a shave.
Actor Meyers, who played Johansson's lover in the 2005 Woody Allen-directed drama, held up production while filming an intimate scene so that he could de-fuzz.
Johansson says, "Kissing him wasn't that bad, but he did have to stop and shave in the middle of a scene, even though he'd shaved that morning. The man has really got some serious beard on him."
Efron: 'Mothers Adore Me'

Teen heartthrob Zac Efron has a secret army of fans - middle-aged women go weak at the knees when they meet him.
The High School Musical star says teenage girls are usually too embarrassed to approach him in public.
But mums use their daughters as an excuse to get his attention.
Efron says, "It's not the kids - it's not the 'gaggle of girls', it's the 'gaggle of parents'. The parents are the ones who want the pictures. The girls are too shy so it's really sweet. I love to wave at them and stuff. It's really funny.
"The parents are the most excited. The kids are like: 'Mum, let's go,' and she's like: 'No, we're taking a picture, it's really exciting for everyone in your class.' Really, truthfully, I love the kids. It's a pleasure."
Dunst Rules Out Broadway

Actress Kirsten Dunst has ruled out a career on Broadway - because she is terrified of singing live.
The 26-year-old showed off her vocal talents for her role in the third Spider-Man film - but pre-recorded a song for fear of performing in front of the cast and crew on-set.
And she insists it is her apprehension over her singing abilities that keep her from starring in musical theatre.
She says, "Singing in the movie was fun because I got to record the song, and then I lip-synched to my own voice because I'm scared to sing in front of people in real life.
"I don't have it in me. I'd do it but not professionally or anything like that. I mean, not on a Broadway stage, that's for sure."
Affleck To Take Backseat At Convention

Actor Ben Affleck will not make a speech at the upcoming Democratic National Convention - because he doesn't want to steal Barack Obama's thunder.
The Pearl Harbor star is set to join a host of celebrities and rallying around the party's presidential candidate at the event in Denver, Colorado next week (beg25Aug08).
But according to the New York Daily News, Affleck has ruled out a high-profile appearance because he doesn't want to hog the limelight.
A source tells the newspaper: "He won't be delivering speeches. Instead, he'll be anteing up for a disabled veterans' poker tournament, as well as participating in America's Second Harvest events - packing lunches for local food banks.
"And he'll be sitting in on a panel discussion on combating global poverty."
Other A-listers reportedly planning to attend the event include filmmakers Quentin Tarantino and Spike Lee, movie stars Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Susan Sarandon, and Forest Whitaker, and rapper Kanye West.
DeGeneres Hopes To Inspire Equal Rights With De Rossi Wedding

Talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres hopes her marriage to actress Portia De Rossi will inspire generations to become more open-minded about same-sex unions.
The lesbian couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at their Beverly Hills, California home on Saturday after the state lifted its ban on gay marriage.
And the 50-year-old insists the pair's own marital obstacles could break down barriers for equal rights activists in the future.
DeGeneres says: "I feel like it is long overdue. And I think someday people will look back on this - like women not having the right to vote, and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous - like we all don't have the same rights."
Report: Reno Has Heart Attack

Leon star Jean Reno has been rushed to hospital after suffering a serious heart attack, according to reports.
The 60-year-old was on holiday on the Caribbean island of St Barts with his wife Zofia Borucka when he was taken ill on Thursday.
The couple had been staying at the home of French singer Johnny Hallyday.
Reno was airlifted to Fort-de-France hospital. No further details on his condition were available as WENN went to press.
Statham Dreams Of Marriage And Children

The Snatch actor, who is single, claims he isn't fussy when it comes to picking out potentional girlfriends, declaring: "Beggers can't be choosers."
But he has decided on the necessary qualities he would like his future partner to have.
He says, "She'd need to have a sense of humour to go out with a guy like me.

Lamarr Kept Hitler's Sick Sex Tryst Keepsake

Silver screen beauty Hedy Lamarr would have taken her Hitler sex secret to the grave with her had it not been for a keepsake cigarette case.
The actress, once dubbed the world's most beautiful woman, hired fanzine writer Devra Hill to help her pen an autobiography in the mid 1960s. The project died when the star was arrested for shoplifting and the two women ceased being friends.
But Hill revisited Lamarr's life a few years ago after recalling the gold cigarette case with the engraved diamond swastika she once spotted on a table at the late Hollywood star's home.
Hill, who has just gone public with the sex tryst Lamarr and Hitler had when the actress was the teenage wife of an Austrian munitions dealer, says, "It was a cigarette case that Hitler had given her with a diamond swastika on the top.
"I said, 'That's gotta be worth a lot of money.' And she came out with this revelation. When I looked at the history research, she had parties where she entertained Hitler, so she was like a social hostess."
In her new book What Almost Happened to Hedy Lamarr, Hill claims the Jewish actress was once forced to have sex with the Nazi leader by her "cruel" first husband Fritz Mandl.
The shame of the three-way prompted Lamarr to leave Austria and seek fame and fortune in Hollywood.
Hill insists few people know of Lamarr's sex secret: "She hated her first husband because he was so domineering. I think she was ashamed. She hated Hitler and didn't really want to talk about the tryst once it was out there.
"I think she reluctantly told me because I asked about the cigarette case - and immediately regretted it.
"She said that she tried to tell (movie mogul) Louis B. Meyer about Hitler and he said he didn't want to talk about Hitler and he told her not to talk about Hitler. I bet she didn't tell anyone except me.
"She said she met Hitler and was forced into a relationship with him because her husband was making millions of dollars from him."
Tequila's Girlfriend Cited For 'Beating A Bouncer'

Model-turned-reality TV star Tila Tequila's socialite girlfriend Courtenay Semel has been accused of assaulting a Las Vegas security guard.
The 28-year-old daughter of former Yahoo CEO Terry Semel was cited by cops in Sin City after allegedly striking a guard when he wouldn't let her back into a nightclub to retrieve her cellphone.
Semel wasn't arrested after the altercation, which took place at Caesar's Palace's Pure nightclub at 4am on Wednesday, but she will have to pay a fine or appear before a judge.
Las Vegas police officer Jay Rivera tells People.com that Semel was taken to the hotel's security office, where she was "cited for battery and released."
Bisexual Tequila recently revealed she was exclusively dating Semel, after rejecting all the male and female contestants on the second season of her MTV reality show Shot at Love. Due to the romance, Tequila has pulled the plug on a third season of the hit dating show.
Disneyland To Shut Down For Cyrus' 16th

Teen pop sensation Miley Cyrus is to stage her sweet 16 birthday party at Disneyland in California.
The Hannah Montana star will shut down the themepark for the day on 5 October so she can party with friends, contest winners and fans who pay $250 (GBP125) to hang out with the singer/actress.
Cyrus will also celebrate her big day with Youth Service America volunteers who have been singled out for their community work.
The Disneyland event will be called Miley's Sweet 16 - Share the Celebration and tickets that go on sale on 30 August are expected to sell fast.
Madonna Plans For Tour Spectacular

Madonna's upcoming Sticky + Sweet shows will be split up into four sections - Pimp, Old School, Gypsy and Rave.
The pop star's latest concert trek will begin in Wales this weekend and details have emerged as to what has gone into the production.
According to Madonna's publicist, the pop star will travel the world with a 250-strong troupe of crew members, dancers, musicians and assistants, 3,500 individual clothing items, 69 guitars and 16 caterers.
The rep estimates that Madonna and the band have spent over 650 hours perfecting the show.
The Pimp section will feature an homage to the 1920s, the Old School segment will pay tribute to 1980s New York City, while the Gypsy part of the show will include "three Romanian gypsy musicians".
The Rave section will feature Madonna's high-energy disco numbers.
Osbourne To Star In Prison Reality TV Show

Rock offspring Jack Osbourne features in a new reality TV show, documenting life in prison.
The 22-year-old son of Ozzy Osbourne was sent to Shelby County Jail, in Alabama to experience the life of an inmate for the Prisoner: X series.
Osbourne joined a host of celebrities, including former British sprinter Linford Christie, to see what life was like behind bars.
The show will be broadcast later this year in the U.K.
