The Grudge 2 basically follows after what happens at the end of The Grudge, with Karen(played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) burning down the house which she believed to house a curse. Karen's sister Aubrey (played by Amber Tamblyn) finds out while at home in California, that Karen has been in an accident while in Japan. Despite their estranged relationship, Aubrey is told by her mother to go and find her sister and bring her back. After arriving at the hospital Karen is staying at, Aubrey meets a Japanese reporter named Eason who is interested in Karen's story. This leads Aubrey and Eason to the house where it all started.
The Grudge 2 follows three main story lines which follow the characters of Aubrey, three schoolgirls at a high school in Japan, and a family moving into a house in Chicago. I thought the story lines didn't intersect very well and the way it switched from one story to the next was a little annoying and could have been edited better.
One of the major drawbacks of The Grudge 2 is the acting. The performances are unconvincing and the actors have little to no chemistry with each other. None of the characters have any depth in this movie, except maybe Aubrey, but her character never really got a chance to develop with all the switchings from one character's storyline to the next. I was disappointed with how little screen time Sarah Michelle Gellar's character was given but the movie didn't necessarily suck because of that.
It sucked because the so-called scares were cheesy and pretty much no different from the scares in The Grudge. This movie was not very original in terms of writing, storyline, and even the dialogues were just lame fillers for the next 'scare'. I particularly found the schoolgirls' storyline very uninteresting. I'm not too disappointed with this movie because I wasn't expecting very much, just from seeing the trailer(which didn't make the movie look very good anyway).
I suggest saving your money and skipping on this one.
