Question about Lillian.

I loved this film, I thought it to be a very contemplative look at relationships as well as introspection. Though I feel I need to watch it again in order to grasp everything, but my main question is with Lillian. Soon after Erik has published his book, she storms into his room and calls him cliched.

I'm sure that I missed something, but why does she do this? I know it echoed the section in the beginning when he was struggling with whether or not he should break up with her, but I'm not sure how she came to that conclusion. I know she said it wasn't even about them not seeing each other as frequently as they should have... but yeah, I'm just slightly confused.

Anyway, thanks in advance!
