The La Times reports: "No one's confirming it yet, but look for Thursday midnight shows of 'Twilight' to gross north of $7 million. That easily beats the $2.5 million earned by 'Sex and the City' in midnight shows." However, "Twi-hards" still no match for fanboys, with The Dark Knight making $18.4 million in midnight screenings and Star Wars 3: Revenge of the Sith at $16 million.

Every now and again a movie comes along and is labeled as "critic proof", which basically means that despite whatever critics might have to say about it, fans will still see and enjoy it regardless. The last one that I know of was Sex and the City: The Movie. Not a great film, but I doubt many cared. The latest to join this impervious crowd is Twilight. You're probably aware of the extensive fan-base that surrounds Stephenie Meyer's books. It's impressive by all accounts, and downright scary to some. Given the immensity of fandom, I probably won't deter anyone from seeing the film by describing it as tedious, eye-rolling, clipped, and in some instances, downright poor. If you care to know why, then read on. If you abstract the central story of Twilight, it's actually not a bad tale. A young girl named Bella (Kristen Stewart) falls in love

Fashion queen Vivienne Westwood has come up with the perfect storyline for a sequel to the Sex And The City movie - but wants to keep it under wraps.
Adapted from the hit TV series, Sex And The City: The Movie stormed international box offices on its release earlier this year, grossing more than $300 million (GBP200 million) worldwide.
And British designer Westwood, who acted as a consultant on the first film, insists she has a great storyline for a possible sequel - but will not reveal all until she has told the movie's star Sarah Jessica Parker.
Asked about a follow-up to the film, she tells Grazia magazine: "No one has mentioned that to me as of yet but I will tell you that I have had a great idea for the plot of a sequel.
"It came to me only the other day and I think it's a brilliant story. I've been trying to get hold of Sarah Jessica Parker to suggest it but I haven't managed to reach her so far. I'm probably too late if they're already talking about the sequel but I hope not as it's really rather a good idea. I'm not telling you any more until I've spoken to Sarah Jessica though."

Kim Cattrall claims sex is the best cure for jet lag. The actress - who played maneater Samantha Jones in hit film "Sex and the City: The Movie" - insists the only way to get over a long flight is to "have as much fun as you can."
She said: "I find the best thing to do is to not sleep. My advice is to as soon as you arrive, stay up as long as you can and have as much fun as you can, if you know what I mean, and then go to sleep."
The 52-year-old star - who was crowned an Ultimate Icon at this month's Cosmopolitan Magazine Ultimate Women of the Year 2008 awards - recently revealed her boyfriend of four years, chef Alan Wyse, who is 23 years her junior, is the only man who can please her in the bedroom.
She said: "I find a lot

It's official -- the fabulous ladies of Sex and the City will be talking love and dishing the dirt once again. A sequel to this Summer's follow-up to the HBO series has been confirmed.
The Sex and the City TV show ran on HBO for 94 episodes, from 1998 to 2004. The storyline follows the lives and loves of four women from the Big Apple; writer Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), man-hungry Samantha (Kim Cattrall), conservative Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and workaholic Miranda (Cynthia Nixon).
Almost immediately after the series wrapped, rumors began circulating that a feature film was in the works. Sex and the City: The Movie finally happened and was released in U.S. theaters on May 30th. The film ties up Carrie's long-running relationship with Big (Chris Noth) and ends with the ladies toasting Samantha's birthday and the future.
While the movie was being made, it was uncertain if

Hold the Cosmos – for now, at least. That's the word from Sarah Jessica Parker, who says that a sequel to Sex and the City: The Movie is still in the talking stage. Her announcement came just one day after costar Kim Cattrall seemed to hint that the follow-up film was a done deal. ("Yes, there will [be another movie] ...," she said on a British TV show. "We will do the sequel next summer.") But Parker insists Cattrall's words were a bit premature. "I'm thrilled to know Kim is excited but all the deals are not yet done," Parker said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

The Dark Knight came to the rescue of Time Warner, helping it to boost third-quarter revenue. The film has grossed $527 million in the US. DVD sales were Ok, largely as a result of the popularity of the Sex and the City DVD release, but the company noted that profits paled in comparison with its sales at the same time last year for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Time Warner also reported solid results from its cable networks CNN, TNT, TBS and its pay-tv outlet HBO. In a statement, CEO Jeffrey Bewkes said that the company has the "ability to weather difficult economic conditions and the flexibility to invest in the long-term competitive position of our business in a period when others may have to retrench." However, revenue from its AOL unit continued a persistent descent, falling another 17 percent during the quarter. Shares of Time-Warner were down 5 percent to $9.64 in late-afternoon trading.

After months of speculation, Kim Cattrall says that there will be a sequel to this year's hugely popular Sex and the City: The Movie. The actress appeared on Britain's The Paul O'Grady Show, with guest-host Spice Girl Melanie Brown. Asked point blank, "Will there be a sequel?" Cattrall replied emphatically, "Yes there will!" A spokesperson for New Line Cinema says the studio is "in negotiations for a sequel." Cattrall, 52, talked more about sequel plans at Cosmopolitan's Ultimate Women of the Year Awards in London, where she received the "Ultimate Icon" honor. "The fans keep saying, 'Yes, one more,'" Cattrall told reporters.

Kim Cattrall has confirmed there will be a Sex And The City movie sequel - with filming scheduled to begin as early as next summer.
The actress, who played maneater Samantha Jones in the hit U.S. TV series, was the last of the original core cast - which included Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis - to agree to star in the big-screen adaptation.
Earlier this year, Parker alluded to the possibility of a sequel to the blockbuster, promising that she and writer/director Michael Patrick King would "have that conversation (about a sequel) sooner rather than later".
And, speaking to pop star Melanie Brown in a U.K. TV interview on Tuesday, Cattrall revealed that a follow-up is indeed in the pipeline.
She told the former Spice Girl: "Yes, there will be a sequel. We will do the sequel next summer.
"We wanted to (film) the first time, and now we're hopefully doing it again for the second time."
However, she added that it was "difficult getting everybody who's so incredibly busy all together at the same time".
The movie Sex And The City stormed international box offices after its May release, grossing more than $391 million (GBP211.4 million) worldwide.

Jennifer Hudson's Sex And The City co-star Mario Cantone is confident the singer/actress will bounce back from the brutal murders of her mother, brother and nephew, because she's "just phenomenal".
The star's mum Darnell Donerson and brother Jason Hudson were found shot dead at their home in Chicago, Illinois on Friday, while the body of her seven-year-old nephew Julian King was found in the back of an abandoned SUV in the city on Monday.
Cantone admits he was rocked by the tragic news, and his thoughts are with Hudson as she mourns her loved ones.
He tells MTV, "Here she is - she's so sweet and lovely, she's brilliant, her album is on the top of the charts - and then this happens. I feel so awful for her. I just can't imagine what she's going through.
"If she wants to throw herself into her work, great. If she doesn't, she shouldn't. She should do what she needs to do and not let anybody tell her what to do. I just hope she takes all the time she needs and surrounds herself with everyone who loves her so that she can get through this in her own way and in her own time."
And Cantone is sure Hudson will emerge a stronger person from the tragedy - and he can't wait to work with her again one day "because she's just phenomenal".
He adds, "I hope, if we do the (Sex and the City) sequel, she'll be a part of it. There's time. It's still early, and I'm hoping that happens, because that would be nice. I just can't wait until she's ready to come back and sing for all of us."
Police have arrested William Balfour - the estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia - in connection with the slayings, but he has yet to be charged.

DVD Links: Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Not exactly the greatest of weeks for DVD and Blu-ray releases, but I have added a bunch of new titles and release dates (links at the bottom) and I am sure Disney is loving the empty week to debut their direct-to-dvd Tinker Bell feature. Tinker Bell I received this late last week and haven't had a chance to give it a watch yet. I was hoping to get it watched before I ran this week's releases so I could have a full review for you, but no such luck. You can watch the trailer below, but other video I have seen of the flick doesn't really give much of an idea of what the film is about outside of telling the story of Tinker Bell's origins and how fairies help the seasons change. Not sure what the plot twist in the story is,

Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis and Malin Akerman are set to co-star as halves of couples forced into therapy in Jon Favreau's new flick, Couples Retreat. All three have been part of awesome TV shows (Veronica Mars, Sex and the City, and Entourage), have proven their great comedic timing, and are super attractive. Sounds like the casting director of the film is hot on the trail of a great comedy. Hr reports that Kristen Bell (Heroes), who recently displayed her comedy chops in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, is set to co-star as Jason Bateman's wife. Kristin Davis (Sex and the City: The Movie) will be a part of a fictional marriage with Favreau. Malin Akerman (The Heartbreak Kid) will be hitched to Vince Vaughn. Those combos all sound like comedy gold. After Arrested Development I will follow Jason Bateman anywhere. The movie will follow three couples who go on vacay

Never underestimate the love women maintain for shoes and slightly comedic soap opera. How else can one explain the success of Sex and the City: The Movie? As a counter-programming move, it hit the screens during the action film dominated summer of 2008 and managed to become a decent hit. The flick snagged a tidy $152 million and all but ensured another cinematic chapter of the City franchise. All of which caught me somewhat by surprise. Oh, I didn.t think City would bomb, but I felt it had too limited an audience to be much of a hit. I think the TV show appealed to women in their 20s and 30s, gay men, and that.s about it. That.s not an insignificant demographic, of course, but I didn.t believe it.d be enough to generate big box office bucks.
I was wrong. And now I confront the possibility I

Sarah Jessica Parker says there won't be another "Sex and the City" movie. The actress - who reprised her role as sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw in the long awaited "Sex and the City: The Movie" earlier this year - doesn't think there will be a sequel.
She said: "It has taken the last two years of my life to get to this point. To ask for anything beyond that, honestly, we would have to be greedy. I don't really even feel that it's in our control."
Despite the popularity of both the movie and the original U.S. TV show, Sarah Jessica has no regrets about bidding Carrie farewell.
She added: "It wasn't difficult to let go, I think that maybe it's because I've always sort of looked at this as literature. Maybe it's because we have had so many chapters to tell. It's always bittersweet, but I never have

We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10. When it comes to movies, ladies rule. Some of the world's biggest stars have been born on Hollywood sound stages, and the most unforgettable of them have been women. We're fascinated by them—whether that fascination is born from admiration, repulsion or lust, the moments that made them icons stay with us. Today, the stories women tell on screen appeal mostly to… well, other women. Girls drag reluctant dates into "Legally Blonde" or "Devine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood," and whether they'll admit it or not, guys secretly enjoy it in spite of themselves. New romance classics like "A Walk to Remember" and "Moulin Rouge" seem to have a similar appeal, and thus also earn the bittersweet designation of "chick flick." With films like "The Women" and "Sex and the City: The Movie" bringing ladies back into the center of attention (where they belong) this year,

The box office, which produced its smallest gross in five years last weekend, is expected to revive this weekend with the star-studded comedy Burn After Reading and the thriller Righteous Kill. Ticket sales are also expected to be boosted by the new Tyler Perry comedy, The Family That Preys, which was not screened for critics, and the female-oriented The Women, which stars Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing and Jada Pinkett Smith. Of all the new films, the critics appear to favor Burn After Reading, which stars Brad Pitt, George Clooney, John Malkovich and Frances McDormand, although the film is not expected to gross more than $10-13 million. It opened in many theaters Thursday night at midnight. But most express disappointment in Righteous Kill, despite the performances of Robert De Niro and Al Pacino who are reuniting for the first time since 1995. Nevertheless, it is expected to lead the box office with about $14-16 million. The Women, which is aimed at the Sex and the City crowd, and which is being bashed by critics, is expected to generate about $9-11 million.

Sex And The City star Chris Noth wants the sequel to the hit movie to be filmed in London.
The film version of the popular TV show hit the big screen earlier this year and there are already rumours that movie bosses are planning a follow-up.
And Noth - who plays Carrie Bradshaw's love interest Mr Big - insists that the New York-based show would translate well if it moved to London for a sequel.
He says, "We are doing a sequel right here in London. I don't know, I'm just kidding, it's up to the writer, Michael Patrick King.
"He has some great ideas. I think it would be a great place to make it. If Woody Allen can make films in London, why can't we?
"Maybe Carrie and Mr Big could take their honeymoon here, maybe his business could move here or could bring him here and they could settle down."
